I am a digital communications specialist, creative director, award-winning graphic and web designer, leadership & personal brand coach, speaker, teacher and trainer. For years, I have serviced clients throughout the United States in areas related to communications design, branding, marketing and leadership.

I have 20 years of working experience and have served in the capacities of Creative Director and Web Director for the University of Redlands and Web Director of Interactive Design and New Media Production for Claremont McKenna College where I was responsible for creative direction, web design, project management, online marketing, visual design, social media, video production/ editing and institutional branding.

I also seek opportunities to speak and write on various topics relating to branding, leadership, manhood, fatherhood and communications design. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University.

Creative Director – University of Redlands
July 2015 – January 2016

  • Director of Web Strategy and New Media position, role and responsibilities integrated into Creative Director position.
  • Lead the effort to develop and maintain the visual language that reflects the University of Redlands and its unique selling points.
  • Conceptualize and lead the design and execution of integrated marketing and communications campaigns; including the University magazine, marketing collateral, print and web display advertising, web sites and multimedia. Played a crucial leadership role in the redesign of the University main website.
  • Worked collaboratively with the University Chief Communications Officer, partnering directors, creative vendors, Information Technology support, and others. Ensured that optimum visual consistency, University identity and brand messaging are incorporated into the University’s major external communications. I manage graphic designers, web designers and production teams.

Director of Web and New Media – University of Redlands
October 2013 – June 2016

  • Provide leadership, vision and accountability in setting the strategic direction of the University’s website and interactive campaigns and properties. Responsible for articulating and marketing the University of Redlands brand differentiation through the University’s website, social media sites, interactive marketing communication vehicles, email and online marketing campaigns.
  • Oversaw the University of Redlands website and micro sites. Was responsible for SEO, usability, brand adherence and communications effectiveness; ensures content is relevant, current and linked to the overall mission and positioning of the University.
  • Administered and integrated online marketing and social programs (within the University of Redlands’ goals and a master marketing plan as the framework). Developed social media strategies and drove programs to achieve specific objectives. Turned ideas into
    workable plans.
  • Collaborate with and supports University constituents in assuring brand messaging across all multimedia vehicles and helps to manage crisis & emergency communications through social media.
  • Leads, executes and measures integrated online campaigns, standalone programs and one-time projects that leverage social and multimedia platforms.
  • Oversees the monitoring and reporting of key analytics and provides relevant analysis and recommendations to Vice President of Marketing and University teams.

  • Responsible for managing CMC’s online brand presence and primary social media directories. Responsible for strategic planning as it relates to visual website messaging, content improvement, functionality, design, UX/UI and site architecture.
  • Project lead and manager of CMC’s 2012 launch of new responsive design website. Facilitated vendor communications on all aspects of new website transition and build; including visual branding, message tone, community messaging points, process workflow, priority scheduling and facilitation with web technology and content management teams.

  • Provide the leadership, vision, visual brand identity, design integrity and template management of the 2011 website.
